Introduction
3003 aluminum coil belongs to the Al–Mn series alloy family and is a widely used rust-resistant aluminum with very high corrosion resistance. Manganese content can reach about 1%, and because of this it has relatively higher hardness.
The alloy strength is not high (slightly higher than industrial pure aluminum) and it cannot be strengthened by heat treatment, so mechanical properties are improved by cold working. After annealing, it has higher plasticity; during semi-cold hardening, plasticity remains good. Under cold work hardening, plasticity is lower but corrosion resistance remains good and weldability is good; however, machinability for cutting is poor.
Key Features
- 3003 coil has good formability and processing characteristics.
- It offers higher corrosion resistance and good weldability.
- It also has good deep-drawing performance and relatively high plasticity.
Applications
- 3003 coil is commonly used as materials for smartphone battery housings, lighting decoration, interior components, air-conditioner piping, automotive oil tanks, water tanks, electrolytic capacitors, refrigerators, air-conditioner ventilation pipes, etc. It has good rust resistance.
- Battery shell: new-energy vehicle power battery housings, top plates, and separators, which can be stamped into square or round battery shells. Water cooling plates: 3003mod aluminum plate;
- 30034343/30034045 plates can be used for brazed water-cooled plates for EV power batteries or condensation/heat-dissipation equipment.
- Heat sinks: widely used in thermal management devices. Pipe insulation: commonly used in chemical plants; rust-prevention function is better than that of 1 aluminum coil (as described).
- 3003 foil: aluminum foil for honeycomb cores, for meal boxes, and container aluminum foil.
