Introduction
5A02 aluminum plate is a 5xxx-series Al–Mg rust-resistant aluminum with good corrosion resistance. In addition, 5A02 aluminum alloy has outstanding fatigue strength, higher than that of 3A21 alloy. In terms of plasticity, it is similar to 3A21 alloy and has good formability.
Like other 5xxx alloys, 5A02 is described as a non-heat-treatable alloy, and strengthening is achieved through cold working. In cold-work hardening and semi-cold-work hardening conditions, the machinability is good; under annealed conditions, machinability is poorer. Therefore, 5A02 aluminum plate can be well applied to manufacturing flanges, oil tanks, GIS high-voltage switch enclosures, rivets or electrodes, etc.

- Weldability: good weldability during resistance welding and atomic hydrogen welding; tendency toward crystal cracking during argon arc welding.
- Plasticity: can be machined (turning, milling, boring, planing and other machining) at the maximum speeds of most machine tools.
- Physical properties (as provided): tensile strength $$\sigma_b$$ (MPa) ≤ 147; elongation $$\delta_{10}$$ (%) ≥ 14. – Other: can also be polished, etc.
