Introduction
6063 aluminum plate is a medium-strength, heat-treatable age-strengthening alloy of the Al–Mg–Si system. Its main alloying elements are Mg and Si. Differences in Mg/Si percentages lead to different properties: higher Mg content increases Mg2Si amount and yields a stronger heat-treatment strengthening effect; increasing Si refines alloy grains, improves metal flow and casting performance, and enhances heat-treatment strengthening.
6063 generally has good mechanical properties, is heat-treatable and weldable, and parts can be re-heat-treated to restore higher temper performance. However, its strength is about half that of 6061. The surface is typically very smooth, making it ideal for anodizing.
Key Features
- Strong corrosion resistance with no tendency toward stress corrosion cracking.
- Excellent weldability; corrosion performance in the weld area remains unchanged.
- Oxidizable: anodizing does not change surface color, resulting in an attractive appearance.
- Surface is free from peeling, blistering, roughness and localized mechanical damage; no defects.

Applications
1 Thin 6063 plate
Used for automotive underbodies, auto parts, and smartphone accessories.
2 Medium-thick 6063 plate
- Used for wheel rims, molds, and structural parts for coaches/buses.
- Used to produce automotive body contour components and tank-trailer bodies.
- As a high-aluminum Mg alloy (as described), it offers good strength, corrosion resistance and machinability, and can be used to manufacture aircraft fuel tanks, oil pipes, transport vehicles and ships.
- Applicable across industries: in automotive manufacturing as raw material for body component processing; in the building sector as decorative plates, anti-corrosion plates, and for deep processing.
