Aluminum Rod

2A14 Aluminum Rod

Based on composition and performance, 2A14 aluminum alloy rod can be classified as either a hard aluminum alloy or a 2A50 forged aluminum alloy.

    Introduction

Based on composition and performance, 2A14 aluminum alloy rod can be classified as either a hard aluminum alloy or a 2A50 forged aluminum alloy. Compared with 2A50, the difference is higher copper content, resulting in higher strength and better thermal strength. However, in the hot state, its ductility is not as good as 2A50.

The alloy has good machinability and resistivity-related properties. Its spot welding and seam welding performance is good; arc welding and gas welding performance are poor. It can be heat-treatment strengthened and has extrusion effects, so longitudinal and transverse properties differ. Corrosion resistance is not high, but in artificially aged conditions it shows tendencies toward intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.

    Applications

2A14 is widely used in complex-shaped free forgings and die forgings.
